Project E-01: industrial sheet-metal enclosures is a fictional unit making sheet-metal enclosures for industrial use. Its assumed nameplate capacity is 1,00,000 units a year. The annotations explain what each report section should establish and which evidence must support it.
16 pages · PDF, about 105 KB · Version 1.0 · Free access, no form required.
A fictional educational example. All project figures and assumptions are invented. This is not a client report or a lender-approved template. Use it to understand the structure and questions; build your own report from verified project evidence.
What is inside the 16-page sample?
- Report anatomy and project brief: the decision, scope, product, market evidence and assumptions.
- Technical and implementation plan: capacity, production bottlenecks and an illustrative six-month construction schedule.
- Cost and means of finance: fixed investment, working capital, reserve, equity and borrowing.
- Linked financial schedules: six operating years of profit, debt and cash flow, with model reconciliation.
- Downside cases and risk register: lower sales, slower receipts and questions about corrective actions.
- Practical preparation tools: an evidence checklist, consultant appointment questions and source notes.
Start with the project brief, then follow one assumption through the report. For example, a production estimate should agree with the sales volume used in the financial schedules.
A worked cost and funding example
The sample separates investment in the factory from the money needed to operate it. The cash reserve is a separate liquidity allowance. All amounts below are fictional and expressed in Indian rupees.
| Use or source of funds | Illustrative amount | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed investment | ₹200.00 lakh | Fit-out, equipment, utilities, installation and other capital allowances. |
| Initial working-capital allowance | ₹51.00 lakh | The example’s first-year operating-cycle requirement. |
| Cash reserve | ₹30.00 lakh | A separate allowance for liquidity. |
| Total funding requirement | ₹281.00 lakh | Fixed investment + working-capital allowance + cash reserve. |
| Illustrative equity | ₹141.00 lakh | One assumed source of the total funding. |
| Illustrative term loan | ₹140.00 lakh | The other assumed source; not an offered financing arrangement. |
The two sides reconcile: ₹141.00 lakh equity + ₹140.00 lakh loan = ₹281.00 lakh total funding.
Follow the operating assumption too
At 60% utilisation, the example sells 60,000 units in Year 1. An assumed selling price of ₹600 per unit produces revenue of ₹360.00 lakh. Revenue is not the same as cash collected: the sample then traces inventory, customer credit, supplier credit and debt payments.
The downside examples show why this matters. Slower receipts can put pressure on cash even when the model still shows a profit. Read the assumptions and cash schedules together.
How to use the sample for your project
- Define the decision. Write down the project, recipient and purpose before choosing a report format.
- Mark the sections you need. Adapt the scope to your process, site and development stage.
- Replace every teaching assumption. Use your own quotations, demand evidence, process data, schedule and proposed financing terms.
- Rebuild the connections. Check that capacity, costs, revenue and cash flow reflect the same project.
- Record what remains unresolved. Assign each evidence gap or action to an owner before final review.
Our DPR format and preparation guide explains the wider process. For documented assignment experience, see the solar-cell manufacturing DPR case study.
A short preparation checklist
The PDF includes a printable evidence checklist. Begin with these six groups and mark each item as available, pending or requiring clarification:
- Project brief, promoter information and intended recipient.
- Site records, layout and location-specific permission status.
- Product, process, capacity and equipment quotations.
- Customer evidence, pricing basis and payment assumptions.
- Project cost, funding sources and implementation schedule.
- Linked projections, working-capital logic and downside cases.
Keep an evidence index with dates and document versions. A missing record should remain visible as an open item.
Common questions
Can I submit this sample to a bank?
Use it as a learning reference. An actual submission needs your project’s evidence, assumptions and professional assessment, with the intended lender’s format and scope confirmed.
Can I use the sample’s costs or loan terms?
The numbers are invented for teaching. They are not market quotations, current lending terms or a cost benchmark. Replace them with evidence and terms applicable to your project.
Does a DPR replace an independent TEV assessment?
A lender may require a separate independent appraisal. Confirm its appointment requirements; the DPR and TEV comparison explains the different purposes.
